What is Aesthetic Nose Surgery?

Aesthetic nose surgery (rhinoplasty) or nose reshaping surgery is the most commonly applied plastic surgery. Aesthetic nose surgery can make your nose smaller or bigger, change the shape of the tip of the nose or the nasal hump, narrow the width of your nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and upper lip. It can also correct a congenital or injury-related deformity, or relieve some breathing problems. You can decide how your nose will look after surgery - with the 3D technology used before rhinoplasty at Derim Dermatology Surgical Medical Center.

If cosmetic rhinoplasty is performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, complications (undesirable results) are rare and usually insignificant. However, there is always the possibility of complications. These are infections, nosebleeds, or a reaction to anesthesia. After surgery, cracked small capillaries may appear as very fine red dots on the surface of the skin. Since aesthetic rhinoplasty is performed from the inner part of the nose, there is no visible surgical scar. However, if the open technique is used or the wide nostrils need to be narrowed, the very small and thin scars at the base of the nose are usually too insignificant to be seen.

Good communication between you and your doctor is essential and very important. In the first meeting, the surgeon will ask you what you want your nose to look like; s/he will examine the structure of your nose and face and explain the possibilities for you. The structure of your nasal bones and cartilages, the shape of your face, the thickness of your skin, your age and your expectations will be the main topics of discussion.

Aesthetic nose surgery usually takes an hour or two. During the surgery, the skin of the nose will be separated from the bone and cartilage roof. The process of reshaping the nose will vary depending on the problem in the nose and the technique used by the surgeon. Finally, the skin will be adapted onto the roof created. When the surgery is completed, a plaster splint will be applied on the nose to help the nose maintain its new shape. Pads or soft plastic instruments can be placed inside the nose to stabilize the septum, which is the partition that separates the two airways in the nose.

When your face is swollen and bruised in the days following surgery, it's easy to forget that you'll look and feel better. After plastic surgery, most patients do not feel well for a while, which is quite normal and understandable. If a group of patients is sick, they are sure that this phase will pass. Day by day, your nose will start to look more beautiful and your morale will rise. After a week or two, you will no longer look like you just had surgery. However, recovery is still a slow and gradual process.

You can decide how your nose will look after surgery with the 3D technology used before rhinoplasty at Derim Dermatology Surgical Medical Center. Thanks to the technologies we use in every aspect of our lives, we can now preview what we will look like after aesthetic operations.

Thanks to 3D Vectra Technology, the patient can communicate with his doctor before the operation and convey his expectations more clearly. Nose aesthetic surgeries are one of the most preferred aesthetic operations in Turkey and in the world. A small change in the appearance of the nose also changes the facial expression noticeably. The fact that the patient sees the predicted result after the surgery allows the process to progress more positively and the doctor to have a command of the patient's expectations.

The developments in three-dimensional (3D) photographic systems are supported by new computer programs, allowing to show the expected result after surgery in patients considering plastic surgery. The procedure begins with taking a three-dimensional photograph of the patient with the VECTRA 3D camera, and then continues with the surgeon planning the surgery using a special program and showing the patient the expected postoperative appearance in 3D.

The biggest advantage of the system is that you can see the expected result not only from the side profile, as in the programs still in use, but also from the front, the bottom or diagonally, that is, from wherever you want. The most important thing for patients to understand in the program is that this is not the result of surgery. 3D Vectra is a good method for the patient to fully share the desired result with the doctor and to convey his thoughts.
